Lately, I’ve been missing traveling so I thought I would start up my blog. I have been all over the world, and though I’m not traveling as much now, I realized I could still tell all about by past travels and some of the hotels, hot spots, and highlights in different cities around the world.
The island of Saint Martin is located east of Puerto Rico and St. Thomas and just north of St. Kitts. It is co-owned by the Dutch (St. Maarten) and the French (St Martin), the former in the south and the latter in the north. While the whole island has classic Caribbean culture, there are differences between the sides that might impact your decision about where to stay and spend your time. Both are fantastic, but they’re very different.
The beaches on the French side are much more remote and off the everyday tourist’s map, meaning less crowds.
You’ll see a few topless women on the Dutch side, but the French side is clearly the looser end of the island. Orient Beach, a section of which serves as the official nude beach of the island, is located on the French side, along with most of the more secluded, less travelled beaches of the island.
This brings me to La Samanna, St. Martin’s #1 Luxury Resort…
After flying into Princess Julianna Airport, we arrived at Le Samanna where we were given a beautiful suite with a private splash pool and cabanna.
