San Francisco

The Renaissance San Francisco Stanford Court Hotel

This historic hotel is now part of Marriott brand, and it is packed full of charm.

Situated at the top of Nob Hill, the location is close to the trendiest Nob Hill restaurants and the famous Union Square.

The hotel has an elegant old-world feel to it.  The rooms are small but charming with a Victorian decor. The views from the top of the hill make it exciting, taking in all of San Francisco at its finest.

The service was the best feature about this hotel.  They went out of their way to accommodate us when we had special requests for our meetings.  Service is key on my list so for that reason, I would absolutely stay here again.

I would say this is more of a business hotel, or it would be nice for a romantic overnight stay.

We were here on business so my husband asked me to pick a reasonably priced restaurant to entertain our clients that evening.

Since I love my Top Chef restaurants, of course, I chose another one: Scala’s Bistro.

The executive chef is Jen Biesty from season four.

Located in the historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel in Nob Hill, it has a classic menu with a very trendy vibe. Our guests could chose from pizzas to perfectly executed Italian courses.

Overall, the meal was extremely tasty, but what else would you expect? Top Chef never lets me down! Pizza averages $!5, Entrees $30.

While walking back to my hotel the next day, I discovered the best little hole in the wall pizzeria: Uncle Vito’s Pizzeria.

I stumbled upon it while walking up one of those huge San Francisco hills.  I LOVE pizza, and the hill kept getting steeper so I took it as a sign that I needed to stop in for a good calzone.

Loved loved loved the calzone I had! Loved it so much that I went back there the next day and had another one! $12-20 per pizza. Well worth it!

The picture above was taken at the famous Top of the Mark at the top of the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco.  We stopped in for a drink because this was the last place my stepfather and his buddies stopped before they flew to the Pacific for WWII.  We took this picture and sent it to him! I hope it made him smile!
