New Orleans 1

New Orleans 1

When Stephen says things like, “We need to go to New Orleans next week, book this hotel,” I don’t even ask why.  I just smile and book it.

I was immediately warmed by the elegance of the Omni Royal Crescent. From the moment we walked through the doors, I felt like we were in good hands.

Located in the renovated Arts District, the hotel sits two blocks from Canal St/French Quarter and close to the Riverwalk.

The price is moderate, the rooms are elegantly decorated, and there is a rooftop sundeck and hot tub.

I found out it was the week of Jazzfest so while my husband worked, I got to go and listen to the bands all around the French Quarter and the Riverwalk.  It was a true New Orleans experience!

If you’re looking for an elegant, moderately priced, clean New Orleans hotel, definitely consider this one.

Now onto a New Orleans tradition…Café Du Monde and beignets!

It’s a total tourist trap but it’s a must if it’s your first time to the Big Easy.

Beignets are just a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar, but there is something about the way they make them that just makes them that much better.

Go and taste for yourself…you’ll see.

When you think of New Orleans chefs, only two chefs really come to mind: Emeril Lagasse and John Besh.

John Besh has defined modern New Orleans cuisine. He continually promotes the use of Louisiana home grown edibles, and helps protect the environment that surrounds it.

Luke Restaurant, one of his nine restaurants, is situated in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel on Charles St.

You need at least a couple of weeks to make a reservation to get in to the place, but it’s well worth it when you do get it.

I took my husband’s New Orleans team to Luke while we were pitching the NORA deal.

We were seated outside the kitchen, a glass enclosed area all where you can see the chefs cooking up their finest dishes.

The atmosphere had a very vibrant New Orleans feel to it. Good food and good company.

Apparently they have a really good breakfast as well.  I can’t wait to go back!

New Orleans, Jazzfest, beignets, and John Besh…I must say, I couldn’t wait to go back!
