While I love traveling, and I have been doing it for many many years, one of the drawbacks is that I don’t very often get to see my family.  Stephen knew I was feeling a little homesick and offered to take me to Houston for my family’s big Christmas.

Our first trip ever together was to Houston in December 2011.  We both knew this upcoming trip would mean bringing us back to our first hotel, the Hotel ICON.  

The Hotel ICON, Autograph Collection is located in downtown Houston and is one of my favorite hotels because it is comfortable, warm, and special to us.

Built in 1911, this historic building used to be the Union National Bank. It was fully renovated in June of 2012.

We have stayed at the ICON three times now, and we always get a corner junior suite.  The suites are beautiful with a big comfortable bed, a sitting area, and an enormous bathroom. 

The bathroom is in my favorites of all of the hotels we have ever stayed.  It has an oversized shower with a rain shower in it as well, the whirlpool tub is huge, and the vanity is big enough for us both to get ready at the same time…that’s a big bonus!

The restaurant in the lobby is the Line & Lariat.  We love taking our newspapers and eating breakfast there in the mornings.  It’s always a treat.  It’s a great option for dinner as well.
