Remembering Broadway

Stephen and I are taking his beautiful daughter to New York City for her spring break. We’re taking her to her first Broadway show!  This brought back the memory of my first trip to the big city.

My mother took me to New York City for spring break my senior year in college. At the time, this was a big decision for me because I chose going to New York with my mom over going to Las Vegas with my sorority sisters.  I had always dreamed of NYC, though, so when she said she’d take me, I leapt, I ran, I sprinted at the opportunity.

My fascination with the Big Apple started at the age of 8. In my day, most girls grew up watching the movie musical Annie. I grew up watching A Chorus Line, a musical about getting into the chorus of a Broadway show. I had known since the age of three that I wanted to grow up to dance and sing on Broadway one day! I made it as far as singing at Ellen’s Stardust Diner on Broadway, but somehow, I don’t think that counts. 😉

I’m still a proud Actor’s Equity Association Member though, and I will happily pay my dues every six months for the rest of my life! 🙂

Anyway, we are going to NYC on March 19th!

We are staying at the Waldorf, seeing Chicago on Broadway, and eating at Nobu.

Can’t wait to blog about it!
